Hello again! Well, it's been awhile since my last post, but better late than never. A big congratulations to my fellow Arkansan Chris Allen for winning American Idol. I rooted for him throughout the entire show. There were chants of "Vote for Chris!" while I went to a David Cook concert in Chris's hometown of Conway, Arkansas. It was a blast! But seriously, in my unbiased honest opinion, I feel like he deserved it more than the other contestants. Sure, Adam is extremely talented, but he is limited to his particular music genre, while Chris proved he can sing anything. So, Kelly Clarkson from Texas wins, Carrie Underwood from Oklahoma wins, David Cook from Missouri wins, and now Chris Allen from Arkansas wins. That just goes to show that we here in the South are some very talented people, lol! Coincidence? I think not!
As the title implies, it was a gorgeous day here. So, this morning, I began my day riding bikes with a friend. I didn't take it easy on him either! We rode for about two hours in the high humidity up steep hills and around winding trails. My friend whined a little, but I was impressed that he was able to keep up and never asked to stop once to rest. When you work out with me, be ready to go all out. I don't do anything halfway!
I've also been busy playing the new Wii Active video game. I love video games, and I love fitness. When you combine the two, that's a perfect combination for me. I was hesitant at first to purchase it, because I bought the Wii Fit when it first came out, but I got bored of it quickly, so I thought the Wii Active would be the same. I finally gave in and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The workouts are more intense and there is a larger variety of activities so a person doesn't get bored. I actually broke out in a sweat the first time I played it. It comes with a resistance band and a leg strap. I guess my only complaint is that the resistance band leaves something to be desired. It's just a thin piece of rubber that you tie to the two handles. It doesn't offer enough resistance, in my opinion, to actually tone or build muscle. I'm going to purchase a heavier resistance band to compensate for this though. There is a personal trainer that coaches you through every move. I love how it combines lower body, upper body, and cardio, along with some fun sports activies like baseball, volleyball, and tennis. All in all, I think it's a great game and a great way to burn some calories. However, I think people should still continue to lift weights and not use this solely as a method to lose weight.
